Managers in Switzerland are seeing their job descriptions and the skills demanded of them changing rapidly. Authority, hierarchy and commanding presence are giving way to coaching, convincing, and inspiring.

New global commercial imperatives are causing a shift in the skillsets required of directors and managerial staff favoring charismatic communicators, negotiators, and coaches.

A number of institutions of management training are modifying their program to take these changes into account, but certain skills now required of most managers — namely social skills, and personal charisma — are nearly impossible to teach.
